Quote

It was his Birthday, the only day of his lonely life when he thought himself to be special. He had feeling of living a directionless life. He wanted to have some motivation; some driving force; one special mantra to be followed. He tried to think of one but was never able to. He believed in god and passed on the command of his quest to god.
While unwrapping his birthday presents, he found “a book of quotations” and thought it to be god’s signal: wait is over my child. He thought, finally i have got a chance to put an end to all my miseries and started looking for his mantra-for-life. He was happy with the thought of it to be the last day of desolation. This book is certainly an omen of good luck.

For whole day he kept on finding suitable quote for himself. His thirst for happiness restricted him to his room only. He lost contact with whole world for whole one day. He didn’t go to office; postponed his all birthday rituals; received no phone calls which were meant to put a smile on his face; forgot to attend his own birthday bash; and missed the finals of his favourite game.

It was 12:02 am. He was still looking for the appropriate-life-changing-words with a single page left in the book, which to his despair ended with no life changing direction. He got frustrated and threw the book away. Suddenly, he looked at the watch and started crying with tears on realising the hollowness of his search and loss of few most precious moments of his life.

very well started. I would though love to see that you continue from here. Take us through his life, the situations of despair. It's not important that he succeeds or becomes famous or earns wealth, what's important is when he is about to finally close the chapter of life, there is a smile of satisfaction on his face.

Just wanted to share with you some lines I love "I've always wondered, when a butterfly leaves the safety of its cocoon, does it realize how beautiful it has become? Or does it still just see itself as a caterpillar?
The problem with seeing the future is that it only comes in bits and pieces, like a reflection in a broken mirror. After a while, though,it's like playing a video game in your head. Do it enough times, and you know all the moves.
When you can see the future, you think you're capable of changing it. But you're just a witness to coming moments, unable to help, even if you wanted to.
And maybe you don't.

Sometimes you think you're supposed to learn something...about patience or distance. But in the end, it's all about discipline. Seeing things you don't always want to. And just moving on. After a while, things become easier. Routine keeps your mind from wandering. You begin to accept things as they are.

Every man has his destiny. You can't escape it. Even if you can see it coming.

The scars are like a road map of the soul...Everyone has a purpose. Sometimes a person lives their entire life without knowing what theirs is..."

Sorry for making the comment so long...but I liked this post very much...

@mandelia:dude,i can bet you were seriously seriously drunk last night !! :P

sadde, a nice post. though i would like to mention some points. you have used short sentences which were nice. it makes for powerful statements. crisp and clear. though language mein thoda coherence aur chahiye. on the development of plot, it was really fast and gripping. reminded me very very strongly of "one hundred years of solitude" which itself is a great plot. but your plot development ends on very jarring notes. it comes to an anti-climax and is a let down.
i do not know with which frame of mind this post was written.
if it was to be a short story, then the reader always wants some unraveling or a climax at the end. in this sense it would have been nice to give your character a message at the end from the book of quotations. maybe like "stop being a jerk, and rummaging for a life changing quote. go and live your present. you already wasted the day!!" because the story leads towards it, and it would only have been a vindication of the reader's imagination.
but the story ends on a plain note. and i do appreciate it here, only if it was originally meant not to be a story but just an account of another futile day of this useless jerk, who doesnt live in present. in that case its a nice account, and ends portraying very well after all why this guy is a loser in life.
